Community Law Program, Inc. is a 501©(3) non-profit corporation founded in 1989 by members of the St. Petersburg Bar Association concerned about the unmet civil legal needs of the poor in southern Pinellas County. Our mission is to empower the most vulnerable residents in our community through the provision of pro bona legal assistance and representation, education about legal rights and responsibilities, and community outreach. Approx. 90% of the free legal services of our organization are provided by private attorneys who volunteer with our organization. We fulfill our mission through: (1) the operation of 20+ free legal advice clinics and self-help classes each month that are located in places readily accessible to the low-income community; (2) the referral of cases to volunteer attorneys for full representation; (3) the coordination/participation in community education events designed to educate the general public or certain targeted populations about legal rights and responsibilities; and ( 4) the operation of special projects designed to provide particularly vulnerable groups with full-representation utilizing staff attorneys.
