Access to Justice” – The importance of “access to justice” to those in greatest need is Dade Legal Aid’s (“DLA”) priority. Dade Legal Aid provides a critical safety net of legal services for the indigent of Miami-Dade County. To improve our delivery system, we offer an array of services and use sophisticated monitoring techniques to fine tune our result-oriented services.
Established by a Committee of the Dade County Bar Association in 1939 with a designated attorney, today 20 Staff Attorneys specialize in the areas of Family Law, Domestic Violence, Guardianship, Children & Foster Youth Advocacy, Non Profits, Legal Clinics, Venture Law, Housing, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure Prevention, Taxation, Veterans Legal Issues, CLE Educational Trainings and Community Workshops. Last year, Dade Legal Aid served over 6,000 clients utilizing a strategic mix of dedicated staff attorneys, 1000’s of pro bono attorneys, 225 Law Firm partnerships, four law school stakeholders and dozens of collaborations with diverse organizations with the common goal of assisting vulnerable populations and families living in poverty without means to hire an attorney. Our advocates are doing important, life-changing and often times life-saving work in areas of law that include the protection of children, families, the elderly, disabled and medically fragile, victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, homeowners, first responders, veterans and other vulnerable populations.
